Mark was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1973, he studied acting and performed in a number of productions in the Chicago area. Since the acting didn’t pay much, to support himself, he learned auto repair and worked as a grease monkey. Seeking bigger fish to fry or larger bolts to turn, he relocated to Los Angeles where he soon learned there were about a 1,000 other guys who looked and talked like him all shooting for the same three roles. End of acting career.
He enrolled at Southwestern University School of Law, actually enjoyed law school, and obtained his juris doctorate degree, cum laude, in June of 1982. He was admitted to practice in California in December of that year. He has had a varied career which saw him serve as a deputy district attorney for Los AngelesCounty, as a senior associate in a large national law firm, as house counsel for an insurance carrier, and as a partner in a workers’ compensation defense firm.
Mark has significant jury trial and court trial experience. In addition to over 70 criminal and civil jury trials and numerous court trials, during his career, he has counseled large national and multi-national companies on labor and workers’ compensation issues. He has also represented individuals and business entities in administrative hearings. A certified specialist in workers’ compensation law, he his known for giving his clients specific advice and recommendations with a view toward reaching the most effective result.
Mark and his family reside in Agoura Hills, California. His hobbies include playing guitar and percussion instruments. He also writes songs and is a member of ASCAP. Other interests include videography, but not skydiving. One day, he may actually try to put his old high school band back together and hit the road. However, since he has four kids in college, he isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. |
